Jones endorsed by NRA and Home Builders

Jul 11, 2011

Dear Friend,

I want to begin this update by thanking the hundreds of you who have welcomed me into your homes over the last several weeks.  Thank you for taking time to share your concerns about insurance costs, job creation, and community safety.  For four years, these conversations have been the basis of the best ideas I’ve taken to Jackson and with your help we’ve already seen many of our local ideas signed into law.

While this campaign will always be centered on local support and strong grassroots, it’s encouraging to have the support of groups who share our vision for Mississippi.  That’s why I am proud to announce endorsements from the National Rifle Association and the Home Builders Association of Mississippi.

In her endorsement letter from the NRA, Tara Reilly Mica said that my “A” rating and endorsement were based on my “record of support for Second Amendment issues in the Mississippi Legislature.”  I am especially pleased to have authored House Bill 506, a measure that became law earlier this month, that allows lawful gun owners to obtain a concealed weapons permit after they complete certain training.

With all the housing issues that have faced the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it’s been important to work with our Mississippi home builders to reduce fraud and promote a thriving building market.  That’s why in 2010, I sponsored House Bill 1555, a bill signed into law by Governor Barbour that requires contractors to disclose whether they have general liability insurance when they perform work on a home.  I appreciate the support of the Home Builders Association and look forward to continuing our work with its over 4,000 member firms and over 40,000 employees.

I hope to see you on the campaign trail soon.  In the meantime, call me on my cell phone at 228-326-7649 if I can be of help.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve,

Brandon
